It would appear that I’m not the only person on Waterloo‘s press release list. I’m not trying to be egocentric there, I’m just saying that because their latest batch of shirts seems to be making the rounds on a few of the t-shirt blogs across the internets. And that’s cool — they do need to get the word out, after all.
If we’re going to be honest with each other, I have to admit that I had a bit of a hard time picking from this series. Dark Side of Oz is rad in a way that only anyone’s inner stoner could truly appreciate and Ramones makes me more than a little wistful. Still, The Royal Tenenbaums came out on top. Why? Attention to detail.
Little things like the addition of Pagoda to the family portrait and Wes Anderson’s ever present use of Futura really tie the shirt together. On top of that, there’s a really interesting blog post that breaks down the creative process and even shows a few alternate designs that would have been awesome if they were explored further. Because I don’t know about you, but I’d pretty much kill for a Richie and Margot shirt.

Oh, I figured it was just a regular newsletter, I feel about 5% more important now.
I agree with you about their blog posts, I like to see where a design comes from. So many blogs from t-shirt companies just tell you about their new designs and sales, when its interesting stuff like this that is more likely to get me to subscribe to their blog.
