It’s times like these that make me love doing this site… Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the nice folks from Signal Hill, CA based Oddica after they asked me out for some coffee. We spent a little over an hour shooting the shit about t-shirts and some of the company’s inspirations. And while most of the talk was off the record, I’ve gotta say that it really seems like they’re honestly concerned with making both their customers and the stable of artists who’ve signed on with them very happy.
I was also lucky enough to score a bunch of great shirts a solid week before the site launches. The quality of the water based inks and the American Apparel stock as well as all the little freebies they’re going to throw in with the order is top notch. They’ve really gone and done a great job of paying attention to all of the minute details — from the cards you get for each t-shirt to the heavy duty envelope that your order is shipped out in.
Believe every last bit of the hype that you’ve heard and get your credit cards ready for their grand opening sale when the site goes fully functional tonight at 10pm EST.
Mark my words, kids. The independent t-shirt game is about to get stepped up a notch…

These sort of sales always happen when I have no money on my debit card. Damn 24 hour processing time. Anyways, this is particularly bad because the have a lot of nice shirts. Like the Darth Vader ping-pong one…
Much agreed, Aaron. It’s even worse when you’ll have no paycheck until early July (gotta love graduating with no money).
I’m embarrassed that I haven’t heard much about these guys. I need to get out more.
By the way, Jason, you’re right about their business model. The 41 percent program seems unique and extremely supportive of Oddica artists.
Cool, I hadn’t heard about these guys, seems like a great site. My only complaint is that most of their designs seem to have an Oddica logo somewhere on the shirt. It’s a small thing but I really can’t stand logos.
its 10:00 where is the site!
It just opened for business… I got Exploded Boombox and Evil Knievelvich.
I cannot get any of my cards to be accepted at the site. Anyone have any luck?
Jack, I didn’t have any problems with my Visa.
Everything seemed to work just fine for me.
I’m taking your word on the quality of the shirts and company… I hope you didn’t screw me, Preshrunk.
Yeah, somethings fucked with there site, I couldn’t get my cards working either.
hey guys … sincere apologies … there have been some credit card glitches … but most of the orders have gone through smoothly. We have our programmer troubleshooting the issue. If you had an issue with a credit card, and you really want a shirt, you can email [email protected] and we will save you the shirts you want, and get the glitch figured out.

Update here at 1:20 california time. We discovered the glitch and every declined customer who has re-tried has been able to get thru. It was a Cybersource thing where Cyb. was trying to verify phone numbers for shipping and billing addresses. Which was not necessary. The condition has been removed and things work. Jack and Matt, apologies. If you put ‘Preshrunk’ into your comment code, we’ll get you your shirts and throw in some extra goodies.
again apologies,

and Jason, thanks for your write-up on Oddica, and sorry to use this space for customer service discussion. :
I got my hands on one the other day. These guys really mean business. Their gear is top of the line when it comes to quality, and the envelope was bursting with goodies.
Damn. I love the designs, but I hate the fit of American Apparel t-shirts.
I really wanted to buy some shirts but I absolutely hate the Oddica tag they stick on the shirt somewhere. Sorry, nice try but no way.
Three designs have ‘Oddica’ omitted — Above it All, Ping Pong Pwnt, and The Undertaker. We understand the concern Matt and Derrick because we wrestled with it. Sorry to disappoint; if you like future designs that we have scheduled to print, contact me and we’ll get you a version without ‘Oddica’ on it.

I’m patiently waiting for the giant squid one to show up in the mail! My sister’s getting the Ping Pong one too.
Can’t wait to see more designs!
Crap. The designs I like are sold out in my size. I guess that’s what I get for not paying attention to preshrunk the past week.
I just tried to order again, and this time my credit card worked perfectly. Thanks for getting that sorted out kaiva.
Yeah, let me second that I love the design, but American Apparel shirts fit terribly. I do not want a shirt almost exclusively designed to allow me to show off my non-existant six-pack. They also cut into my arms rather unpleasantly.
So rather than being able to buy the standard guys XL shirt that just about everyone on Earth wears I need to buy XXL just to get something that fits right. That means that a bunch of places want to charge me a few bucks extra and it makes me feel fat without valid justification. I mean, I’m not in terrible shape, I work out daily and watch what I eat.
Please t-shirt companies. Stop catering exclusively to hipster waifs who are upset that their Small t-shirts aren’t skin-tight enough already and get away from the overly tight, flimsy-feeling American Apparel shirts. I’m clearly not the only person who hates how the damn things fit.
I love Oddica already and I haven’t even got any of their stuff, I wrote one sentence about them on my blog, jokingly saying that I wasn’t bitter about not getting a freebie, and within the hour I get an e-mail asking if I would like something. Great customer relations.
I’m incredibly impressed that you would consider printing shirts especially without the logo for those of us that hate that sort of thing… you guys will probably end up seeing my $40 eventually if this holds up. As a plus, I love Kenneth Lavallee.
Oddica is awesome. I had credit card trouble, and Kaiva from Customer Service TOTALLY lept into the fray and did good by me. I’m actually blown away by how excellent the service is.
KUDOS to ODDICA!!!
My wife and I got our shirts and they are top notch. I can wait to see what is going to happen with the Kids stuff. My 6 year old is jealous, and I swear the look on my 1 year olds face says the same thing!
BUENO!
I have always been a big Threadless fan (27 shirts 1 hoodie) and I NEVER thought that anything would compare to their quality and originality, but Oddica seems to be right up there with them! There’s at least 4 or 5 designs that are right up there with some of the best of Threadless and I’d buy them in a heart beat… except that they say ‘Oddica’ on them… I just can’t stand that. Sorry.
I just realized the 4 shirts for $10 each was a special sale offer… nevermind, I won’t be paying $20 for one american apparel shirt when something that I want gets printed :( it’s too bad… sorry and good luck
