Lowercase

The more I think about it, the more reluctant I am to call myself a proper type nerd. I’m only passingly familiar with all the various minutiae that would make me a true Typography wonk.

Despite that, I am a nerd who is fairly passionate about type. I almost always notice bad kerning and have a borderline obsession when it comes to a few particular typefaces. And when I say borderline obsession, I mean all consuming sickness. Seriously, ask me about Helvetica or Futura sometime and I swear I’ll bore you to tears with pointless facts and observations.

I think it mostly comes down to liking elegant, modern design tho — and Ugmonk‘s Lowercase tee fits that bill. There’s something about that gigantic lowercase “A” along with the comparatively small remainder of the alphabet that really does it for me.

Ah, Clarendon: such a distinctive ‘a’! I reckon it’s the Linotype cut, at that. I’m not a fully-fledged type nerd either, but, like you say, it’s easy to become obsessed with particular faces!

I actually know nothing at all about typography and am interested in, well, what interests you. Please, rant at me! What’s up with Helvetica? I like typing in Trebuchet MS. That’s… that’s all I know. It looks pretty.
