It's been about a year since we last visited our pals over at Fat American and it looks like they've added a handful of designs since we've looked them over. Just like the last time we checked in on them, they've managed to keep things fairly political without compromising any of their designs.
Our favorite out of their more recent batch is this poignant reminder of how America hasn't always been inhabited by white people. And it wasn't just given up to share. No sir, it was taken by force and swept under the rug ofManifest Destiny in the history books.
So seeing as how the US was embroiled in all of that immigration hoopla earlier this month — and still is, although it's not getting as much coverage now — we figure this tee is an extremely apropos spot of commentary for the current situation. Then again, that's just our opinion. We could be wrong...

Much like our overwhelming love for cephalopods, Sarah and I sort of have this thing for panda bears.
Oddly enough, it all springs from that weirdly awesome Milky Way commercial where the tiny lady pops out of the candy wrapper to perk up a sullen, bearded guy. It all started as a simple, mimicked call and response with us...
Sarah: Why so blue, panda bear?
Jason: Whatev.
Since we both found this to be extremely funny, things would degrade to stupid giggle fits. Yeah, it's kind of retarded — but that's us. Eventually, Sarah just started calling me panda bear and it sort of stuck. Love's sort of sickening sometimes, isn't it?
So as a little nod to the pet name spawned by an ephemeral bit of corporate advertising, I've started looking for quirky [non-stuffed] panda things for my very favorite gal. And while I've only managed to score a weird Japanese cell phone charm for her so far, I just know that she'll love the hell out of this shirt from B1 Originals. I mean, I do...

It's times like these that make me love doing this site... Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the nice folks from Signal Hill, CA based Oddica after they asked me out for some coffee. We spent a little over an hour shooting the shit about t-shirts and some of the company's inspirations. And while most of the talk was off the record, I've gotta say that it really seems like they're honestly concerned with making both their customers and the stable of artists who've signed on with them very happy.
I was also lucky enough to score a bunch of great shirts a solid week before the site launches. The quality of the water based inks and the American Apparel stock as well as all the little freebies they're going to throw in with the order is top notch. They've really gone and done a great job of paying attention to all of the minute details — from the cards you get for each t-shirt to the heavy duty envelope that your order is shipped out in.
Believe every last bit of the hype that you've heard and get your credit cards ready for their grand opening sale when the site goes fully functional tonight at 10pm EST.
Mark my words, kids. The independent t-shirt game is about to get stepped up a notch...

Man, Tea and Crumpets made it pretty hard for me to pick which shirt I was going to run today.
It's not like they held a gun to my dog's head or gave me some sort of less violent ultimatum... I just had a hard time choosing, okay? And while I could have chose the unisex friendly Hummingbird, I decided to give the ladies an exclusive for a change.
It also doesn't hurt that I happen to love a good spring rain more than I like watching those pompous hummingbirds do their thing — but that's neither here nor there...

If you guys knew that I've been interviewing for a job with a really sweet colo facility for the past couple days, you'd probably get a chuckle over the fact that I've waited until this very moment to run this shirt. I mean, it's not like I planned it this way. It just sort of happened, honest.
After being unemployed for the past 2.5 months and having EDD fuck with me over getting my unemployment, the last thing I want to do is denounce work as "for the birds". Fuck that. I need money. You guys did a really great job of taking care of me when I sent out the call last week, but I actually miss going into an office and doing work. Despite the fact that I've been doing some really minor contract work here and there, I have the feeling that I need to be doing something a bit more substantial with my life.
That being said, I love this shirt from the infamous Rob Dobi. It makes me long for a time where I can manage to be self-sufficient and building something for myself instead of other people. Maybe I'll be able to do that someday. Until I can, I'm just going to try to keep a roof over my head, food in my belly and gas in my tank...

While I might be a tad bit too late for E3 with this one, I'm pretty sure it's still worth a mention...
Actually, I'm not quite sure if I feel compelled to run something from PowerUp Tees because I think the design is a clever twist on a slightly overplayed classic — or if I'm doing it just because have a tiny crush on the redheaded model from their site. *shrug* It doesn't matter, does it?
Lecherously drooling at cute redheads aside, the shirt itself is pretty sweet. Despite the fact that it makes Mario look like a bit of a perv, it's gotten a nice chuckle out of everyone I've shown it to so far. Maybe that's because it deftly comines a little bit of nostalgia with a smidge of wry humor. Well, at least that's what I'd like to think it is...

Holy shit, dude! The straight up wackiness of The Match Factory's Abra-Nebraska! shirt is killing me — and I don't know why. It's sort of weird, actually... Every impulse in my body is screaming for me to reject this shirt, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
"That's the short of 'clever, but not quite' sort of crap that people buy at Urban Outfitters and wear in their MySpace photos, man! You're fucking slipping!", my brain screams in anguish. Yet, for whatever reason, I refuse to listen. Actually, I've all but tuned it out.
What can I say? I like it, dude. Maybe I am slipping. *shrug* Whatev. I've had a good run, I think...

I'm not quite sure why, but I've been on a real Lebowski kick lately. But does anyone really need a reason to be on a Lebowski kick? I think not.
Well, I don't actually need a reason seeing as how the film has a firm spot in my ever changing all-time top five. Fight Club, Repo Man, Touch Of Evil and Princess Bride may fall in and out of that nebulous cloud as my mood changes — but The Big Lebowski is always in there somewhere.
I've been itching to run this magnificent bastard since Uncrate ran it last month. Unfortunately, by the time I had gotten to it it was only available in Double XL. And while that's wonderful news for us big guys, everyone else would have likely been dismayed by that. So I decided to wait until I could find it at another shop...
Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon it over at Super7, having a white russian. They're only slinging it in Medium to Extra Large — but that's better than just Double XL, yeah?
P.S. The "other shop" still has it in Double XL as well as Small and Medium. So while I hate having to link to two stores to give you lot a full size range, I'll do it anyhow.
P.P.S. All you Junior Achievers should read Todd Alcott's fantastic Big Lebowski plot interpretation if you already haven't. It's fuckin' ingenious, if I understand it correctly. A swiss fuckin' watch.

I know all of the bitter city dwelling types in the audience will very likely think that I'm either a loon or a fucking heathen — but I actually sort of like pigeons.
I don't like it when they decide to shit all over my car right after I've managed to wash it. Or the fact that the really nasty ones are — for the most part — disgusting winged rats, teaming with diseases. And unless they have the mange, it's really hard to tell the nasty ones apart from the okay ones when you're dealing with those feral ass city pigeons.
Hrmph. Upon closer examination, I'm pretty sure that I don't actually care for pigeons all that much. *shrug* Oh well... I do like this shirt from our pals at Teetsy tho. That counts for something, yeah?

Is it just me or does it seem like there's been a whole rash of people who have turned some of their great — but for some reason unprinted — submissions to Threadless into their own t-shirt shops as of late?
The one that springs to mind immediately is our pal Jay at White Frog. He's managed to build himself quite an impressive little catalog out of the designs he had laying around his portfolio.
But I didn't start this post to talk about Jay... Today we're talking about a new budding mogul by the name of Josh Perkins and his fledgling shop, Go Ape Shirts. With four great designs from Josh and three others, this crew looks like they're going to be worth keeping an eye on.
Then again, I could just be talking them up because I'm insanely happy over the fact that they managed to print Dave Horowitz's outstanding AT-AT Boo Boo — a design we pimped almost a year ago. And while the name might have changed, my love for it most certainly hasn't. Perhaps that's because it follows a time tested comedic formula...

Seriously, if you were to think of anything or anyone sporting a lampshade collar, I bet you'd probably start laughing your fool head off. I know I would. I mean, dude, that's just straight up comedy gold...
