This picture didn't survive the wash. The end of last week was music centric — and now this week seems to be a bit movie obsessive. That's the way things go, I guess.
In order for me to want to run a shirt where words are the main focus of the design, it has to change it up a bit. Orange Alexander's "Outlaw" does that by superimposing a very simple, grimacing Clint Eastwood over a snippet of dialogue from his Revisionist Western classic The Outlaw Josey Wales. If you've never seen that movie, take the time to go add it to your Netflix queue. Well, you know, so long as you can get into Westerns. Me, I've always been a little picky about which ones I like.
There are a couple other designs in this series, but this is really the one that stood out to me the most. And if neither of those work for you — or Westerns just aren't your thing — there's always OA's cleverly executed Wii Death. It all depends on what you like, I guess...

This picture didn't survive the wash. The kids at new tee label Max Fischer were nice enough to send along their most recent design, "Official Uniform" which is a tuxedo tee style take on their namesake's Rushmore uniform.
Now while I don't normally go for tuxedo tees, I'm running this on the fact that I really like Wes Anderson movies. They're always full of quirky little bits of humor and tiny touches of detail that not many directors bother to put in their films. Those sort of extra things go a long way for me. Speaking of extras, the tee comes with a whole slew of extras like Max's "Punctuality Award" and "Perfect Attendance" pins rendered as one-inch buttons and a wonderful "I saved Latin." sticker. Those also manage to go a long way.
The fact that they also sent me a 2XL — despite the fact that the design only goes up to XL in their shop — is a nice touch. Seriously t-shirt companies, that sort of thing really means a lot to a tubby guy who can't wear half of the shirts he reviews.
You really shouldn't let that bias sway you tho... This shirt really is worth at least a passing look because it is interesting and different and pretty fucking outstanding. So what are you waiting for? Go already!

This picture didn't survive the wash. Before 400 of you send in a submission — yes, I've seen the Jules Blogosphere shirt on BoingBoing. Yeah, I think it's pretty damn clever. But no, I don't have any plans on running it. I've got something a little more high end to show you today...
I can already feel a few of you readying a of volley comments about how this shirt is "far too expensive" — and it is — but this blog hasn't always been about affordable tees. No sir, it's been about shirts that I like. And this one tickles my Disney bone something fierce.
I don't know why, but there's something awesome to me about a mummified, decapitated Mickey arm that just brings a smile to my face. Does that say something about me? Probably. I'm not worried about it tho.

Preshrunk reader Paul was nice enough to give us a heads up on a sale that's not happening on the internet. That means that some of you might have to go outside to participate in it. Nerds in sweatpants, I'm looking your way...
The X-Large Flagship Store will be having their annual sample and clearance sale January 12 - 14. Every X-Large item in the store will be 20%-70% off. Everything from the tees to the hats to the hoodies will be marked down. It gets crazy every year and from what I understand stock is pretty limited. They are located at:
1768 North Vermont
Los Angeles, CA 90028 [map]
This picture didn't survive the wash.I don't know why I've been on a music tilt lately, but I'm not going to let it stop me from running this shirt.
I won't lie to you tho, Josh from Go Ape sends me a batch of tees every time he runs a new series. What's more, we chat all the time on the AIM. You could kind of call us internet homies, I guess. So maybe I'm a tiny bit biased by running this here. I've never been much for letting shame stop me tho...
I mean, put a couple drinks in me and I'll tell you about the time I got kicked out of Disneyland for "inappropriate behavior" on the Monorail. Although you probably don't want to hear about or picture that, do you?
I honestly do dig the hell out of this Olly Moss take on The Beatles classic Revolver album art tho. Hell, I'd still be gushing over it even if I didn't get one for free. Mash ups and remixes have always sort of been my thing, after all.

This picture didn't survive the wash.Oh, Led Zeppelin... My inner teenage stoner thinks you're so fucking cool. My inner indie rock snob, on the other hand, wants to cut you out of his life completely — but the stoner always pleads to keep a few of your mp3s around.
The stoner's argument is always the same, too. "C'mon, man... They should be allowed to stay because of that whole When The Levee Breaks sample in Rhymin & Stealin, shouldn't they?" And for some reason, the snob always falls for it. In celebration, the stoner ends up cranking his old cassette copy of Led Zeppelin I while the snob sulks off to read Stereogum.
So it should go without saying that the stoner is squealing at Waterloo's exceptional Zep tee. He's also pretty happy at the fact that entering the code "preshrunk" at checkout will end up getting him 10% off his purchase. Now all he needs to do is head down to the Coinstar to figure out if he's got enough change laying around the house to buy it.

This picture didn't survive the wash.Let me start off by saying that I'm not sure who in the hell Miele Fresca think they are with their sizing conventions. I mean, sizes 1 thru 3?! For a guy's shirt?! Is calling them small, medium and large too much effort? Do you really need to be that different and quirky?
Now, despite my rant — and the fact that they're all sold out of size 2 — I find myself quite taken with this design. It's a beautifully simple bit of art that really doesn't overdo it. And while I know that I could have run Miele Fresca's fantastic octopus, I actually dig this one a little bit more.
Yeah, you heard me right... A cephalopod shirt doesn't end up winning out for once. I'm full of surprises this year, aren't I?

This picture didn't survive the wash.I don't know how many episodes of Batman I watched when I was a kid, but I do know that I loved the hell out of those campy 60's reruns. I'm pretty sure that the crazy ass camera angles, wildly contrasting colors, brightly flashing onomatopoeia and constant glimpses at pop culture thru a fun house mirror fucked me up a little bit — but I'm okay with that.
Nerdy Shirts has done a great job reworking a slice of modern slang into some vintage Batman art with their Pwn'd shirt. It's versatile enough to work at both a LAN party and ComicCon — and that (along with my aforementioned bit of nostalgia) make this shirt pretty fucking sweet.
P.S. I don't think people who would attend either of those events really put a lot of forethought into what they're going to wear — judging from all the cosplay and bloated bellies hanging over sweat pants — but I'll try to give y'all the benefit of the doubt for a change.
P.P.S. Don't take offense to that "chubby, sweat pants wearing" stereotype, nerds. I didn't mean anything by it. Hell, I used to be one of you in high school. Trust me, there is a way out. It's called getting laid.

This picture didn't survive the wash. The new year has always been the time where one takes stock of who they are and where they've been as much as where they want to go.
Now I don't know about you, but I'm tired of sitting around and doing nothing. I've let things go for far too long, and it shows. You guys have had to deal with that general wave of apathy over the past year, and I'm really fucking sorry about that. As much as I hate apologetic blog posts, those of you who have stuck around this deserve as much from me.
And while I've never been one for public resolutions, please know that a lot more work is going to be put into things around here. Writing about t-shirts is something that I really used to love doing. It's something that I honestly and truly miss, and it took a little self-examination for me to realize that. I guess you could say that it's time for a rewind of sorts...
Speaking of rewinds, I've been meaning to write about this shirt by Preshrunk favorite Simon Nonay for a little while now. It's got that hand drawn style that has something that a lot of recent vector-y shirts lack — character. Maybe I'm just talking out of my ass here, but I find it pretty damn refreshing. What do you think?
