🧦This picture didn't survive the wash.Oh. Fuck. Yes.
I've been waiting to see this shirt printed for what seems like a freaking eternity — almost a year to be exact. But the last time I was pining for it and hoping to whatever god would listen that it would get printed, it was a Threadless submission. I'm not sure why they didn't decide to run it, but since Josh from Go Ape put up the green to get it printed, I honestly don't care what their reason was.
It also doesn't hurt that I got sent a free one. To be perfectly honest tho, that really doesn't play into things at all. I love this shirt so much I would have ran it even if I had to pay for it. Hopefully Josh isn't kicking himself in the ass after reading that... ;)
P.S. It should also be mentioned that Go Ape's other new tee, "Battle!" is really quite bad ass and worth buying too. If you've got a bunch of money burning a hole in your pocket, you should totally look into blowing it with them. For serious, yo.

🧦This picture didn't survive the wash.Let's go on an adventure, kids...
What kind of adventure, Jason?
How about an underwater one? With salty old men in diving bells searching for barnacle encrusted, sunken battleships. And with seahorses darting gently thru beds of kelp, as skin divers in search of buried treasure gracefully glide thru the waters above.
What about octopuses? Are there any of those?
Octopuses! Of course! Loads of them! Standing guard over a lost city. Laying in wait for someone to stumble across them. Waiting for whoever comes along to give them a reason to attack. Does that sound like the sort of story you want to hear?
Yes! Yes! We would! We would!
Too bad. I don't feel like telling a story about that sort of shit. Now, run along... And while you're up, bring me a beer.

Well, if somebody isn't going to post anything, I guess I will. That's right, I've come along to clear out the cobwebs.
Jason actually asked me to write something about 2 months ago, but I've had wicked bad writer's block on that shirt. Seriously, one false start after another. What's brought me out of my slump, you ask? What shirt tore down the Great Wall of China sized block that I had?
Loch Ness Imposter, of course.
This is actually an old shirt from Threadless that I've been pining over for months. It just got reprinted and I was able to buy it, so it's new to me! This shirt inspires mixed emotions for me. On one hand, it combines two things that I love: Nessie and giant cephalapods. On the other hand, I'd be really upset if I thought I saw a Nessie and it turned out to be some imposter! I mean, it'd be exciting to find a giant squid in the Loch Ness and all, especially since that would be really out of place. I mean, we all know the Nessie lives in the Loch, so to find a giant squid with a fake Nessie head! That would be really exciting...but still. I see real pictures of giant squids all the time...never a real, live Nessie.
So, as you can see, I would be torn. Who do I love more? Nessie or giant squids? I don't think I can decide. Everybody has their good points. Nessie is really cool and mysterious, probably prehistoric. Giant squids eat sea captains, crush boats and fight whales. Plus, I have a cephalapod for a child. I can't decide. It makes me want to explode. Like my "Who do I find sexier, Beyonce or Shakira?" dilemma.
Anyways. Threadless is having a $10 sale right now. Since I already bought my shirt, feel free to buy one for yourself. Buy two if you want. See if I care.

It's been about a year since we last visited our pals over at Fat American and it looks like they've added a handful of designs since we've looked them over. Just like the last time we checked in on them, they've managed to keep things fairly political without compromising any of their designs.
Our favorite out of their more recent batch is this poignant reminder of how America hasn't always been inhabited by white people. And it wasn't just given up to share. No sir, it was taken by force and swept under the rug ofManifest Destiny in the history books.
So seeing as how the US was embroiled in all of that immigration hoopla earlier this month — and still is, although it's not getting as much coverage now — we figure this tee is an extremely apropos spot of commentary for the current situation. Then again, that's just our opinion. We could be wrong...

Much like our overwhelming love for cephalopods, Sarah and I sort of have this thing for panda bears.
Oddly enough, it all springs from that weirdly awesome Milky Way commercial where the tiny lady pops out of the candy wrapper to perk up a sullen, bearded guy. It all started as a simple, mimicked call and response with us...
Sarah: Why so blue, panda bear?
Jason: Whatev.
Since we both found this to be extremely funny, things would degrade to stupid giggle fits. Yeah, it's kind of retarded — but that's us. Eventually, Sarah just started calling me panda bear and it sort of stuck. Love's sort of sickening sometimes, isn't it?
So as a little nod to the pet name spawned by an ephemeral bit of corporate advertising, I've started looking for quirky [non-stuffed] panda things for my very favorite gal. And while I've only managed to score a weird Japanese cell phone charm for her so far, I just know that she'll love the hell out of this shirt from B1 Originals. I mean, I do...

It's times like these that make me love doing this site... Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the nice folks from Signal Hill, CA based Oddica after they asked me out for some coffee. We spent a little over an hour shooting the shit about t-shirts and some of the company's inspirations. And while most of the talk was off the record, I've gotta say that it really seems like they're honestly concerned with making both their customers and the stable of artists who've signed on with them very happy.
I was also lucky enough to score a bunch of great shirts a solid week before the site launches. The quality of the water based inks and the American Apparel stock as well as all the little freebies they're going to throw in with the order is top notch. They've really gone and done a great job of paying attention to all of the minute details — from the cards you get for each t-shirt to the heavy duty envelope that your order is shipped out in.
Believe every last bit of the hype that you've heard and get your credit cards ready for their grand opening sale when the site goes fully functional tonight at 10pm EST.
Mark my words, kids. The independent t-shirt game is about to get stepped up a notch...

T-Shirts
Man, Tea and Crumpets made it pretty hard for me to pick which shirt I was going to run today.
It's not like they held a gun to my dog's head or gave me some sort of less violent ultimatum... I just had a hard time choosing, okay? And while I could have chose the unisex friendly Hummingbird, I decided to give the ladies an exclusive for a change.
It also doesn't hurt that I happen to love a good spring rain more than I like watching those pompous hummingbirds do their thing — but that's neither here nor there...

If you guys knew that I've been interviewing for a job with a really sweet colo facility for the past couple days, you'd probably get a chuckle over the fact that I've waited until this very moment to run this shirt. I mean, it's not like I planned it this way. It just sort of happened, honest.
After being unemployed for the past 2.5 months and having EDD fuck with me over getting my unemployment, the last thing I want to do is denounce work as "for the birds". Fuck that. I need money. You guys did a really great job of taking care of me when I sent out the call last week, but I actually miss going into an office and doing work. Despite the fact that I've been doing some really minor contract work here and there, I have the feeling that I need to be doing something a bit more substantial with my life.
That being said, I love this shirt from the infamous Rob Dobi. It makes me long for a time where I can manage to be self-sufficient and building something for myself instead of other people. Maybe I'll be able to do that someday. Until I can, I'm just going to try to keep a roof over my head, food in my belly and gas in my tank...

While I might be a tad bit too late for E3 with this one, I'm pretty sure it's still worth a mention...
Actually, I'm not quite sure if I feel compelled to run something from PowerUp Tees because I think the design is a clever twist on a slightly overplayed classic — or if I'm doing it just because have a tiny crush on the redheaded model from their site. *shrug* It doesn't matter, does it?
Lecherously drooling at cute redheads aside, the shirt itself is pretty sweet. Despite the fact that it makes Mario look like a bit of a perv, it's gotten a nice chuckle out of everyone I've shown it to so far. Maybe that's because it deftly comines a little bit of nostalgia with a smidge of wry humor. Well, at least that's what I'd like to think it is...

Holy shit, dude! The straight up wackiness of The Match Factory's Abra-Nebraska! shirt is killing me — and I don't know why. It's sort of weird, actually... Every impulse in my body is screaming for me to reject this shirt, but I just can't bring myself to do it.
"That's the short of 'clever, but not quite' sort of crap that people buy at Urban Outfitters and wear in their MySpace photos, man! You're fucking slipping!", my brain screams in anguish. Yet, for whatever reason, I refuse to listen. Actually, I've all but tuned it out.
What can I say? I like it, dude. Maybe I am slipping. *shrug* Whatev. I've had a good run, I think...
