2006
Growing up, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" was one of my all time favorite movies. As a matter of fact, there was one summer in particular where I remember watching it twice a day, every day on HBO1. That might have been a bit excessive, but I'm pretty sure that I was 10 or 11 years old at the time. If I would have thought ahead, I would have recorded it sometime during the first week that it aired and played the tape until it wore out. But you know what they say about hindsight, don't you?
Still, Ferris Bueller was my hero that summer. And if you were a child of the 80's too, you probably understand why. I mean, the dude was the one of the greatest social engineers of all time. He might have been a fictional character, but as far as I was concerned, Ferris was the fucking man.
So when I saw this loving recreation of Cameron's Caduceus tee over at Found Item Clothing, I sort of lost my shit. Okay, I didn't really lose my shit — in fact, I've kind of known about this shirt for a while now. That's the great thing about being bored and cleaning up your bookmarks, I guess... *shrug* At least I posted it, right?
- Okay, I might have stopped long enough to watch the 4th of July "Twilight Zone" Marathon on KTLA — but that was a straight up tradition at my house.

At $45.00 AUD1, this might be the most that you'll ever pay for a Ross Zietz shirt — but as far as I'm concerned, it's definitely worth it.
For those of you not in the know, Ross is the guy behind such classic Threadless designs as Loch Ness Imposter, Pandamonium, Squeaked and a handful of others. In this design for the fine folks at Australian based People Like Us, Ross has done a wonderful job of throwing together a simple, yet beautiful design.
Well, you know, as beautiful as a paper airplane on fire can be...
Now I know that despite the design, some of you2 are probably still balking at the price tag. If I told you that shipping was included in the price of the shirt, would that help? No? *shrug* Whatev.
- Right around $33.00 USD at the time of this posting.
- And by some of you, I mean the folks who have issues paying more than $15.00 a shirt.

You know, indie girls and argyle naturally go together. Sort of like Chinamen1 and laundry, Italians and organized crime or the Irish and whiskey...
But why exactly are they so simpatico? That's a good question, actually. One that I wish I had the answer to — but I unfortunately don't. *shrug* Oh well... Wish I knew what to tell you there, chief.
While I don't know why they go together so well, I can tell you that the power of bespectacled lasses rocking argyle could easily devastate the fuck out of a ton of dudes. I mean, that shit is like indie rock Kryptonite.
Now I'm totally not saying this because I know that the ladies happen to eat it up. No. Not at all... I'm doing it as a warning to all the gals out there. If you want to pick up and rock this bleached argyle shirt from Divine Clothing, you better be careful. This shirt could possibly break a bunch of hearts and turn a lot of lesser men into Dashboard Confessional listening, mascara wearing Emo kids if you're not2.
Well, you know, so long as you're cute. But if you're not, please feel free to buy one right away...
- Dude, Chinamen is not the prefered nomenclature. Asian American, please.
- Do you really want that on your head? I know I wouldn't.

"It's a terrifying spectacle. The howling & screaming & stomping on the cheap wooden bleachers of the Cock-Pits is Deafening, utterly deafening. The noise will peg a Decibel-meter and keep it pinned for so long that the normal Human ear can't tolerate it."
Hunter S. Thompson
Lest I give any of our animal loving readers the wrong idea, I'm not really that down with
cockfighting. I mean, sure, I'd like to go check one out and all — but they're pretty much illegal in California. So if I really wanted to go check a proper one out, I'd have to travel down to Mexico.
Of course if I end up going to Mexico, I may as well get some perscriptions filled on the cheap in Tijuana. And while I'm waiting for la farmacia to hook me up with my painkillers and boner pills, I might as well have some beers. But knowing me, I'll drink a few too many beers, end up deciding it's a good idea to go to a donkey show, realizing that I've made the wrong decision and going to get some more beer to help wash what I've just seen out of my mind.
In fact, I'd have to drink so much that the next morning I'd wake up down in Rosarito married to a local farm girl named Guadalupe with both my liver and my psyche irreversibly damaged. By then, I wouldn't want to stick around and check out a cockfight. Fuck no, man. I'd just want to go home.
What can I say? Me and Tijuana do not mix...

I don't know about you, but I've always been a fan of cultural mash-up designs on t-shirts...
Well, maybe not the cheapie five for for ten store tees. I'm sure most of y'all know the ones I'm talking about, right? The shirts that can't help but manage to shout, "Dude! I'm totally hiding a not so subtle pot reference in this hamfisted edit of a logo on my shirt! Woooo! 420!"
Uhm, yeah... As far as I'm concerned, those shirts can go choke on a dick. This clever little mash, on the other hand, is a bit more my speed.
Designed by Red5 and sold through the fine — albeit sort of expensive for us broke American types — Rockaway Bear, Kissfits combines the iconic imagery of two bands I dug when I was a high school freshman: Kiss and The Misfits. As long as you can float the $40 [which includes international shipping], I think it's well worth it.
Then again, I just admitted to liking Kiss in high school — so what do I know? *shrug*
P.S. Red5 let me know that Rockaway Bear only has 14 of these magnificent specimens. So if you want one, you'll have to act fast.

I run the risk of having Sarah be disapointed in me for running this shirt1, but I actually happen to enjoy it. In fact, I'm rocking it right now. And while I may be sort of broke and unemployed, I've kind of got a retarded amount of Threadless Street Team points. So being able to get it in my grubby little hands less than a week after it went on sale wasn't that hard.
But why do I like it? Let's just say that there's something about this shirt's Lupo The Butcher meets The Little Mermaid and then and turns her into sushi concept that strikes a chord with me. Hell, I'll even let the fact that it's on a natural shirt — which I'm normally not all that partial to recommending, let alone wearing — slide.
P.S. If you don't like this shirt as much as I do, Electromagnetic Spectrum is pretty sweet too.
- Seeing as how she's told me that she doesn't really care for it all that much.

I know I just ran a shirt from Diesel Sweeties a little under three weeks ago, but I honestly don't care. As much as I gushed over Seven Deadly Texans, I really wish I would have held out for this Andre The Giant Has A Posse influenced hat tip to the oft slept on Power Droid from the Star Wars films.
Still, as badly as I want to rock the fuck out of this shirt, I want stickers in an even worse way. I mean, I'd totally slap one on the otherwise virginal surface of my PowerBook if I could get my hands on one. But this isn't a sticker blog — it's a t-shirt blog.
Although, come to think of it, a sticker blog wouldn't be such a horrible idea. Something to think about, I guess...

"FYI man, alright. You could sit at home, and do like absolutely nothing, and your name goes through like 17 computers a day. 1984? Yeah right, man. That's a typo. Orwell is here now. He's livin' large."
It seems like at least one or two times a year I manage to hear someone say how Orwell was only off by a few years. And you know what? As much as hearing someone say that is like nails on a chalkboard to me, for the most part, they're totally right. As the days pass into months, our rights are slowly being eroded by our government while the reigns grow ever tighter.
And I don't like that at all. No sir. Not one fucking bit.
So what can we do to fix it? Well, getting involved in the process is a good start. It doesn't have to be at the federal level. Hell, it doesn't even have to be at the state level. Start small if you have to — just start. People have been way too lazy and apathetic for far too long. It's time to be idealistic. To give a shit.
Or would you rather spend an evening gorging yourself on Hot Pockets and porn instead?
Note: Just a heads up — this shirt is $23.00 thru the end of March. Which means you have roughly a day to save $7.00. So, uh, good luck with that.

Does anyone else find it kind of funny that I'm running a hoodie at the end of the winter season?
No? Just me? *shrug* Fair enough.
With all the spring showers and a few crisp summer nights at the beach ahead of us, I guess running a hoodie is still okay for a few of y'all. Especially the ones who weren't blessed with the 65 degree, partly cloudy day that I got to witness this afternoon.
Anyhow... After spotting a pointer to Red Canary on the wonderfully hoodie centric Hide Your Arms, I fell in love with this clever, printed sleeve number featuring sumo wrestlers and bunnies. It's a wonderfully quirky and altogether original idea that appears to be strictly for the ladies — but only because I'm not sure I could see most dudes rocking something with bunnies on the sleeves. Perhaps that's just me tho...

Hoodies
It seems like I haven't run an octopus shirt in forever. Then again, I really haven't run a lot of shirts that I sort of have a predisposition towards as of late — but you can blame that little extended vacation I was on for that.
Well my friends, the inherent lack of cephalopods up in this bitch is about to change. You see, TK from Tasty Human Meat tipped us off to his fantastic new Octopod Love design. It's all sorts of awesome and splatteriffic — and I love it.
And you know what else? Now totally I'm wishing that I didn't use up that goofy little bit of erection based riffage in the post from earlier today. Because this shirt actually does give me boners. Hard throbbing ones. And I'm sure the last thing you all want to do is read about my wang twice in a single day.
To be honest, I don't even really like writing about my dick all that much. I mean, if I talk about it too much, some of you might start to think that I'm a tad bit obsessed with it...
